Selenium and vitamin E are a power couple to rival Harry and Meghan. When one drops, the other steps in to offer protective qualities against free radicals. ‘Selenium also helps with the biosynthes­is of vitamin E so that it can be used by the body,’ says Alex Ruani, chief nutrition science educator at UCL. No need for supps though – nuts, seeds and dark leafy greens are all rich sources of the vitamin.
