THE CHECK-UP
Cancer Research UK warned just before the pandemic of a rise in women in the UK being diagnosed with cervical cancer in their late twenties. ‘It’s so important that you attend your HPV cervical screening – better known as a smear test – regularly from the age of 25,’ says Dr Alex Eksander, consultant gynaecologist at The Gynae Centre, London. While you’re there, ask for an STI test – chlamydia, for instance, can be symptomless and lead to infertility.
