Fitness consultant and sports scientist ‘Preparing for the National Schools Netball Finals when I was 14 was my first introduction to “proper” training in the gym, and I loved it. Then, at university, I realised

I’d have to do far more to keep up with the rest of the team, so I learned to be more accountable – a skill I still rely on now. That whole time, I used to go to the gym in rags, pretty much! I’d wear “breathable bras” from any high-street store, and they offered zero support. I just didn’t know any better.

‘Now that fitness is my full-time job, I basically live in sports bras and realise how they can impact my performance. Ill-fitting bras pinch and hug in the wrong places, making you spill over, so you not only feel insecure but can’t focus on your workout. A good bra holds you in the right places, no matter your shape or size, and looks good while it’s at it.

‘Take Under Armour’s Infinity Bra – the straps are thin, so it shows off your shoulders while moulding to your shape; it has a clasp, so it’s easy to get on and off; and the straps are adjustable because, let’s be honest, we don’t stay the same size week in, week out. It also wicks sweat away and dries quickly.

‘All this is important because more women are embracing fitness than ever, but with that can come insecurity:

Am I comfortable? Do I look OK? Am I doing this right? There are so many things that can put people off working out, so having good kit should be a given.’
