Bathe with snow monkeys
The macaques of Nagano, Japan, are famous the world over. A troop of monkeys a few hundred strong has set up home in the Jigokudani Yaen-koen Park, a region sometimes known as Hell’s Valley.
Temperatures in this wild landscape plummet to minus 15 degrees Celsius (five degrees Fahrenheit) in the winter. However, beneath the ground, heat bubbles up from the Earth’s mantle, warming natural springs. When the snow starts to fall, you’ll find the macaques taking a dip in the steaming pools.
