Scal­lops are dis­tinc­tively shaped bi­valve mol­luscs that are found across most of the world’s ocean ar­eas. They can of­ten be found liv­ing on sandy patches in be­tween reef mounds. As a re­sult, dredg­ing for scal­lops is one of the big­gest threats to At­lantic reefs.
