Ousmane Dembele
It is quite incredible to recall that back in the summer of 2015, the Rennes reserve-team winger was complaining about his lack of firstteam action at the club.
Fast forward 15 months and that same player is now on top of the world, having been voted Ligue 1’s Young Player of 2015-16, earning a 15million move to Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and forcing his way into the French national side.
Used as a sub in September’s friendly win against Italy and the goalless Russia 2018 qualifier in Belarus five days later, the 19-yearold looked lively and enterprising on both occasions, and he undoubtedly has much to offer
– not least his explosive pace, one-on-one flair and ability to perform on either flank or through the middle.
At present, he is likely to be used by France coach Didier Deschamps in short, sharp electrifying bursts.
