1 KNOCKOUT BLOW

Deportivo Cali defender Juan Sebastian Quintero survived an attack by a motorcycle gunman who tried to kill the 23-year-old after his team were eliminated from the Colombian league title race.

Despite beating Pasto 1-0, their players were pelted with eggs during a game that saw their league hopes end.

The gunman, wearing a Deportivo Cali shirt, opened fire on Quintero’s car after pulling alongside the player.

“He knocked on the car window and told me: ‘You’re dead.’” said Quintero.

2 SWEET CHOICE OF CLOBBER

Former Liverpool and France forward Djibril Cisse took to the catwalk – in a suit made of chocolate.

The striker who currently plays for AS Vincenza 1902 in Italy, was modelling for charity at the 2018 Salon du Chocolat fair in Paris.

The annual chocolate fair sees celebrities parade in outfits that can be eaten in order to raise money for the Association Mecenat Cardiac Surgery.

The suit was designed by artisan chocolatier Jean-Luc Decluzeau.

3 BOHS WAIT IN VAIN

League of Ireland side Bohemians have been forced to change their new away kit because they don’t have permission to use an image of Bob Marley’s face on the shirt.

Designed as a tribute to the late reggae legend, who performed at the club’s home stadium Dalymount Park in 1980, the top had been hailed as “the dopest shirt I’ve seen” by the singer’s son, Ky-Mani Marley.

4 SKINT SUPERSTAR

When a magistrate in Brazil froze the bank accounts of former Barcelona and Milan star Ronaldinho after he failed to pay a fine of € 2million, it was discovered that the 38-year-old had less than € 6 to his name.

The financial penalty was levied three years ago when the player and his brother, Roberto de Assis, were sanctioned for environmental damage caused by a construction project carried out in a protected area in Porto Alegre.

5 WHO ARE YA?

Hot on the heels of the infamous Cristiano Ronaldo statue comes a sculpture of Liverpool and Egypt striker Mohamed Salah in the Egyptian city of Sharm al Sheikh which critics claim looks nothing like the player.
