IN EUROPE
Milan signed former Juventus and Croatia striker MARIO MANDZUKIC as a free agent. Meanwhile SAMI KHEDIRA left Juventus to join Hertha Berlin and DEANDRE YEDLIN exited Newcastle United for Galatasaray, both on free transfers.
Bayer Leverkusen completed a trio of signings from British clubs, adding Celtic defender JEREMIE FRIMPONG, Leicester winger DEMARAI GRAY and Manchester United full-back TIMOTHY FOSU-MENSAH. Celtic signed Everton right-back JONJOE KENNY on loan as a replacement.
USA striker JORDAN MORRIS left Seattle Sounders to join Championship high-flyers Swansea on loan for the rest of the season, while Roma snapped up promising right-back BRYAN REYNOLDS on loan from FC Dallas.
Marseille and Juventus exchanged two promising young players, with winger MARLEY AKE heading to Turin and midfielder FRANCO TONGYA joining the French club.
Manchester United sent out several players on loan, including JESSE LINGARD (West Ham), FACUNDO PELLISTRI (Alaves) and TAHITH CHONG (Club Brugge). Bayern Munich loaned out CHRIS RICHARDS to Hoffenheim and JOSHUA ZIRKZEE to Parma, while SEBASTIANO ESPOSITO joined Venezia on loan from Inter.
Bundesliga strugglers Schalke signed SHKODRAN MUSTAFI and KLAASJAN HUNTELAAR on free transfers from Arsenal and Ajax respectively.
Southampton signed Liverpool forward TAKUMI MINAMINO on loan, before shipping out striker SHANE LONG on loan to Bournemouth.
Bordeaux and Fulham exchanged loanees, with JOSH MAJA moving to London and JEAN MICHAEL SERI heading back to France.
Highly-rated QPR winger BRIGHT OSAYI-SAMUEL joined Fenerbahce, shortly before the Turkish club also confirmed the signing of playmaker MESUT OZIL from Arsenal.

Colombia appointed Chile coach REINALDO RUEDA as their new boss, replacing the sacked Carlos Quieroz.

Chicago Fire agreed for 17-year-old Colombian JHON JADER DURAN to join the club from Envigado next January, making him the youngest international signing in MLS history. LISANDRO LOPEZ joined Atlanta United from Racing in Argentina, and Vancouver Whitecaps signed DEIBER CAICEDO from Deportivo Cali.
PHIL NEVILLE replaced Diego Alonso as Inter Miami coach, Toronto installed CHRIS ARMAS as their new boss and D.C. United appointed HERNAN LOSADA.
OUT EUROPE
Former Swansea City and Wales captain ASHLEY WILLIAMS announced his retirement aged 36, as did former Borussia Dortmund utility man KEVIN GROSSKREUTZ.
Arsenal released centre-back SOKRATIS PAPASTATHOPOULOS, who only days later signed a two-year deal with Greek champions Olympiakos.
Belgian side Cercle Brugge sacked coach PAUL CLEMENT after the club claimed just one win in 13 games.
English Championship outfit Cardiff City sacked NEIL HARRIS and replaced him with MICK McCARTHY until the end of the season.

Former New York Red Bulls, Inter Miami, Kaiserslautern and United States goalkeeper LUIS ROBLES announced his retirement, ending a 14-year career.

RAFAEL BENITEZ left his job as coach of Dalian Professional in China after 18 months in charge. GRAZIANO PELLE left Shandong Luneng, where he was one of the world’s highest-paid players, to join Parma.
