He leads something of a dual-existence these days, normally occupying a holding role for his club, while lining up as a centre-back on the international front. He is the Under-21s’ lucky charm, renowned for scoring from set-pieces, but discipline can be a problem – he has twice been redcarded for Sparta this season.
