NO BRUNO, NO PROBLEM
While Sporting’s record-breaking season has been a truly collective effort, the outstanding contribution of attacking midfielder Pedro Goncalves cannot be overlooked.
Signed to fill a massive Bruno Fernandes-shaped hole in Sporting’s midfield, the 22-year-old has been exceptional, replicating the prodigious goals output of the now-Manchester United player. “Pote” as he is nicknamed, is top scorer in the Portuguese league, averaging three goals every four games.
Pote was part of the Portuguese invasion at Wolves as a youth player, but returned to Portugal because he was homesick. Should he maintain his fabulous form, a return to a higher-profile league is likely.
