Kasper Hjulmand has long been regarded as one of the top Danish coaches of his generation, making his reputation by winning the Superliga title with Nordsjaelland in 2012. He replaced Thomas Tuchel as coach of Mainz in 2014, but only lasted eight months.
His Denmark reign started in 2020 when Age Hareide, who had guided the Danes to the Euros, decided not to stay on an extra year for the delayed finals. Hjulmand says the special ingredient working with Denmark is the authentic team spirit and pride of his players.
