Georgi DIMITROV

(1959-2021)

During the 1980s, the legendary CSKA Sofia and Bulgaria centre-back was one of the best defenders in Europe. In two spells at CSKA he won five league titles, while on the international stage he won 77 caps, including 56 as captain, and led the side that reached the last 16 at Mexico ’86 – Bulgaria’s second-best performance at a World Cup finals.
