In South Korea’s run to the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup, few players had a greater role than Yoo. Named in the Team of the Tournament, he started every game and scored against Poland in South Korea’s first-ever World Cup win. Despite interest from Barcelona, the midfielder spent his career in Asia, winning league titles at Ulsan Horang-i and Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.
