Raul MADERO (1939-2021)
After a playing career that saw him star in the Estudiantes side that won three consecutive Copas Libertadores, Madero studied medicine specialising in sport. In 1983, former team-mate Carlos Bilardo appointed him physician for the Argentine national team, and he remained in the post for both the victorious 1986 World Cup campaign and Italia ’90. He returned to the post again in 2007, working with another former team-mate, Alfio Basile.
