SEASON’S BEST
PLAYER OF THE YEAR Carles GIL
(New England Revolution) The Spaniard was the creative force behind New England’s Supporters’ Shield win and was deservedly named the league’s Most Valuable Player for 2021.
MANAGER OF THE YEAR Robin FRASER
(Colorado Rapids) New England Revolution’s Bruce Arena claimed the official award with good reason, but Colorado Rapids’ unlikely rise to the top of the Western Conference standings against the odds was possible thanks to teamwork and steady performances from all of their players – a testament to Fraser’s outstanding coaching.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR Ryan GAULD
(Vancouver Whitecaps) Joining the club in August, the Scottish attacking midfielder was key to Vancouver’s mid-season turnaround under coach Vanni Sartini. Gauld’s link-up play with another new signing, Brian White, transformed them from one of the worst teams in the league to one of the best.
