Scary noises

The Grey Rooms Podcast is a horror podcast. Work must be based round a nightmare. The nightmare ‘begins with a man named Raymond, disoriented and waking up in The Grey Rooms. He discovers that he must choose a door that will lead to either his salvation or his eternal demise. With each door he chooses, he finds himself as a helpless passenger within the events of that episode’s story.’

The editor is making an anthology series of podcasts. The stories themselves are horror stories in different settings and with different characters. ‘Each door that Raymond chooses will cause him to suffer the same injustices, torments, and even deaths that the characters endure throughout the tale. Think about why is this happening to him? Is there an escape?’

No sim subs, multiples subs or reprints please and try to format in radio play format. The main character in the story ‘must be killed at the end of the story, or the narrative must heavily imply that the main character will die just after the story concludes’. Think R-rated horror film for the range of violence and language. There’s no limit to genres, horror in the form of mysteries, SF, fantasy, love stories are all accepted.

Stories, 2,500-3,500 words, must have most of the narration in the past tense. Format your work in a radio play format rather than as prose. and submit as a doc, rtf, txt or Final Draft file by email: submissions@thegreyrooms.com

Deadline is 18 April, 2021. Response time is ‘sometime in May 2021’. Payment is $25.
