Chicken Soup warmed up for teenagers
The editors of the Chicken Soup anthologies are seeking submissions from writers under
35 by 15 December. They are publishing the
25th anniversary issue of the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul book. The book will contain the original Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, and 25 new stories. Check out the detailed guidelines and suggestions at the website and remember that stories must be true, non-fiction and first person.
Submit work which will offer ‘support to teenagers from all over the world’. The editorial team want ‘up-to-date stories written by teens and men and women under age 35’.
They seek stories which speak of ‘how the world is today for teenagers,’ and they seek stories about the pandemic, technology, social media, and other modern-day concerns. They are also ‘looking for everything, from serious to silly.’ They hope for stories which will help readers learn about themselves and help them cope in today’s world.
Stories, no more than 1,200 words, and poems are welcome. Don’t change any facts but changing someone’s name or using a pen name is acceptable. Writers must be under 35 and do read the list of suggested topics the team would like, anything from ‘dealing with the pandemic to zoom schooling or home schooling, embarrassing moments and funny stories’ and social media and its influence. Submit work online by 15 December.
