McCreet masterclass online

Join author, tutor and WM contributor James McCreet to learn the Fundamentals of Novel Writing in our two-part webinar masterclass.

The online masterclass will explain and build the essential skills to conceive and write a novel. It takes place in two two-hour sessions, 10am-12noon, on 16 and 23 January 2021, via Zoom.

The first session will cover Building your Idea, how to turn your seed into materials you can use. James will introduce a technique for roughly structuring any kind of novel so that it will work for a reader and be easier to write. Using a mix of on-screen presentation and interactive exercises, he will leave you with a plan you can start to use for your novel. You can also choose to submit your polished novel plan to James after the webinar for personalised feedback.

The second session, Writing that Works, explains how to build on that foundation and hone your storytelling skills, mastering narrative (how a story flows and connects) and writing scenes that keep the readers’ attention from page to page. James will illustrate these skills through presentation, examples and interactive exercises. You can also choose the optional extra after to submit a portion of your novel based on the lessons of this session and send it to James after the webinar for personalised feedback.
