Writing Magazine

Not so much sleep here

-

Short stories, flash fiction, poetry, prose poetry, creative non fiction, articles, essays, interviews and reviews are all wanted for The Dillydoun Review (TDR) a new quarterly online journal and daily blog.

The magazine takes its name from an archaic word meaning ‘a little lullaby’. Although you may think lullabies are soft, sweet songs inducing sleep it is suggested there is ‘often a dark, disturbing subject matter threaded through the lyrics’. TDR is then looking for pieces which ‘capture complex subjects succinctly and powerfully, work on multiple levels and move the reader, provoke thought, engage and even enrage’. Check out the first issue on the website to gain further insight into what the magazine is looking for.

The word limits for fiction and non fiction are 1,000-5,000 words and 50-1,000 for flash fiction and prose poetry. There is no line limit for poetry. Submit only one piece of fiction, non fiction, article, interview or review or up to three pieces of flash fiction, poetry or prose poetry. If you have something which is over the word limit first pitch your idea.

Simultaneous submissions will be considered with the usual proviso but no submissions should have been previously published. All submissions will be considered for both the up coming issue and TDR Daily. There is currently no payment made to contributors although Editors do hope to change this as they grow.

Submit your work using the Submittable link on the website or post with an addressed envelope with relevant return postage to: The Dillydoun Review, ATTN: Amy Burns, PO Box 1208 Hanceville, AL 35077, USA.
