A bright future
The Creative Future Writers’ Award 2021 is inviting entries. This year’s contest for underrepresented writers has the theme of Essential.
The Creative Future Writers’ Award is for UK writers who find it difficult to access the literary world because of mental health issues, disability, health, or social circumstances. Writers entering the competition should not have published a book via an established press or publisher.
Enter original, unpublished fiction up to 2,000 words and poems up to 42 lines. The theme is a creative prompt, but not a requirement.
Awards are given in each category, prose and poetry. All awards comprise cash and development prizes. All winning authors will be published in an anthology.
• Platinum: £100, Chapter & Verse mentoring, online course from Faber Academy or the Poetry School, consultation with Myriad Editions or Out-Spoken Press.
• Gold: £75, manuscript assessment from The Literary Consultancy, online course from Curtis Brown Creative or the Poetry School, year’s subscription to Mslexia.
• Silver: £50, partial manuscript assessment and coaching from The Writing Coach, a copy of Mslexia’s Indie Press Guide.
• Bronze: £25, poem critique from Waterloo Press or story critique from Writing Magazine, copy of The Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook.
