The environment matters

A UK biannual independent print magazine with a ‘fresh take’ on climate change and finding the ‘ground between science and activism’ It’s Freezing in LA! is open to article pitches during December. Pitches, or a completed article if you have it, are welcome from writers of any country or background and although the magazine is printed in English they are ‘happy to work in translation or support writers for whom English is a second language’.

When pitching say briefly what your article is about and highlight any key messages or conclusions for readers. Articles should be critical and analytical and different perspectives are encouraged. How to articles, creative pieces and reviews are not of interest, ‘We want features, criticism and original thinking. We sometimes take personal essays and opinion.’ Include with your pitch a note on any previous work, writing or otherwise, you may have.

The magazine also has an online space and pitches are considered on a rolling basis. Along with articles, opinion pieces and reviews, pieces linked to the headlines will be considered. There is currently no payment for publication online. Payment for publication in the print issue is £150 for articles of approximately 1,000 words.
