Anthologies for Zombies Need Brains

- Gary Dalkin

US independent publisher

Zombies Need Brains LLC is accepting submissions for three new anthologies with a deadline of 31 December.

Stories for all three anthologies must be original, and the tone can be anywhere from comic to dark as the editors will be looking for a wide variety of different moods for each volume.

Noir, edited by David B Coe and John Zakour, will feature science fiction, fantasy, or urban fantasy stories with a detective/private investigator setup and a noir atmosphere. The science fiction or fantasy element must be essential to the mystery or its solution.

Shattering The Glass Slipper, edited by Rhondi Salsitz and Crystal Sarakas, requires reworkings of fairy tales that have been upended, gender-bent or twisted around in some way. Stories based on less famous fairy tales, especially those from non-European cultures, are most likely to be accepted. There is a list of stories which already have a place in the anthology here: tinyurl.com/ZNB2021

Brave New Worlds, edited by SC Butler and Joshua Palmatier, will feature science fiction stories set along the pathway of humanity leaving Earth for the stars. Stories can be set during the departure from Earth, on the long journey to reach a new planet, or upon arrival. Generation ship or colony ship stories are acceptable, as well as terraforming stories once the new planet is reached. Stories with a strong human element are preferred to those purely plot or technology based.

You should receive a response by the end of March 2022, with any revisions required being due by the end of May. Required are world anthology rights (including electronic rights) for one year. Payment will be in advance, 8¢ per word, plus additional royalties at 25% of the ebook cover price and 10% of the paperback price, split evenly among the authors and editors.

Email your submission to contact@zombiesneedbrains.com, clearly indicating in the subject line which anthology your submission is for. It is essential to follow the full guidelines at www.patreon.com/posts/55341297
