The Bridport Prize 2022 is inviting entries. The prestigiou­s annual creative writing award offer the chance to win £20,000 in prizes

The Bridport Prize 2022 categories are:

• Poetry: The first prize is £5,000, the second is £1,000 and the third, £500. Ten highly commended entries will each win £100. This year’s judge is Inua Ellams.

Enter original, unpublishe­d poems in any style or form, up to 42 lines. The entry fee is £10 per poem.

• Short story: The prizes are £5,000, £1,000 and £500, with ten highly commended entries each getting £100. This year’s judge is Tim Pears. Enter original, unpublishe­d short stories up to 5,000 words. The entry fee is £12 per story.

• Flash fiction: The prizes are £1,000, £500 and £250. This year’s judge is Kathy Fish. Enter original, unpublishe­d flash fiction no longer than 250 words. The entry fee is £9 per flash fiction.

• The Peggy Chapman-Andrews First Novel Award: The first prize is £1,500. The winner will also receive mentoring from The Literary Consultanc­y and consultati­ons with literary agency A.M. Heath and publisher Tinder Press. and there is a runner-up prize of of £750 and manuscript assessment from The Literary Consultanc­y, and three awards of £150 plus manuscript assessment. This year’s judge is Monique Roffey. Enter 5,0008,000 words of a novel manuscript by a writer who has not previously published a full-length work of fiction, plus a 300-word synopsis. The entry fee is £20 per novel.

All winners will be published in an anthology.

The closing date is 31 May.
