Active and dramatic narrative stories

- Jenny Roche

Untold human stories with a narrative arc that ‘surprise, delight and captivate readers’ are invited for Narratively, a storytelling and production company which publishes online and develops

TV, film and podcast content from the site’s stories. This may then generate further creative and financial opportunities additional to the payment made for publication on the site.

Key aspects of the site’s stories are that they are fresh, original and untold, are big ideas and the topics are centred on human experiences. They also have a narrative arc of beginning, middle and end that ‘unfolds like a movie taking the readers on a wild ride as they see, feel and hear the events through your writing’.

Submissions and pitches are invited for several sections:

Reported Stories which includes stories on Renegades, Super Sub Cultures and Secret Lives.

Hidden Histories with stories of larger than life characters.

First Person Stories including Memoir and Secret Lives stories.

Photo essays are also invited and usually consist of 10-20 photos with captions and text telling the larger story as well as the details. See website for further information on submitting.

All stories should have ‘compelling, vivid, active scenes that are dramatic and exciting moments of interaction with others’. The kind of story that is not right for the site is one that is mostly an internal story of ‘thinking, feeling, reflecting, instead of moments when you are actively dong things with others’. To get the best insight into the kind of stories wanted read the Editor’s Picks and Most Popular Stories selection of online stories.
