The Good Life Review is a quarterly online literary journal ‘committed to exploring the overlooked.’ Submit poetry, short fiction, flash fiction, micro fiction, short creative nonfiction (cnf,) flash cnf, micro cnf, stage and screen plays, and ‘any of the aforementioned translated from Spanish to English, with the original author’s permission.’ For the ‘mostly’ weekly blog, ‘the Buzz’, submit one piece of original micro pros or a short poem. Fiction and cnf, no more than 500 words please and a poem around a page. Submissions for ‘Micro Mondays’ will open shortly for ‘brief fiction, cnf, and poetry’. Artwork is always wanted for the blog and the main journal. Payment is US$25 to US$55 for each published piece. TGLF also holds an annual Honeybee Prize with a sizeable money prize sent via PayPal, publication of the winners, and ‘a jar of honey from a Midwest apiary.’ Runners-up receive US$75 via PayPal and publication. MudRoom Mag invites prose and poetry plus other content which ‘engages with writing communities – interviews with authors, and reviews of new collections.’ Send 3 to 5 original, previously unpublished poems in a single .doc/.docx .odt or pdf file with one poem per page and no more than eight pages. Fiction, essays, and essays in translation are accepted up to 6,000 words. Include a brief cover letter with a third-person bio in the body of the email.

For prose, both fiction and nonfiction keep the work under 7,000 words. For flash prose, submit no more than 5 individual pieces in one submission. For plays limit the work to 20 pages per submission. Submit work by email. Standard publishing format is usual but the team are ‘flexible’ as long as it is clear and easy to read. Plays should be in standard play format. Submissions for the Things that Make Us Furious column may be satirical essays, listicles, rants.

The editorial team at Zooscape love ‘fantastic furry fiction.’ They want stories about ‘animals which can talk, magic flows, and the stars are in reach.’ Furry fiction is a genre found under the speculative fiction umbrella and may be either science-fiction or fantasy. Published three times a year, submit original stories, no more than 5,000 words. Reprint stories may be up to 10,000 words. An anthropomorphic animal figure should be the main feature in the story. Payment is US8 cents per word for original fiction and US$20 for reprints.

The editorial team at Slackjaw want writing that makes them and their readers laugh. The team publish daily humour on Medium and are always seeking writers. Submissions under 1,000 words are preferred, around 300 to 800 words is usual, of ‘premise-driven humour pieces, humorous essays, and a bit of short comedic fiction’ but not ‘fake-news/Onionstyle pieces.’ The team also like illustrated and cartoon pieces.
