Bridge Books
Bridge Books is part of a large literary organisation which publishes books, a journal and a magazine and has various other literary endeavours, writes PDR Lindsay-Salmon.
The book publishing division ‘encompasses three distinct presses: Bridge Books, its speciality imprint StepSister Press, and Hurm Editions, a transgressive pulp fiction press.’
Bridge Books publishes artist’s monographs, book-length monographs of literary or poetry criticism/history/theory, book-length poetry collections, arts practice and theory, essays for an anthology exploring the history and present of cinepoetry, essays/short book-length titles on dance and performance art.
StepSister Press seeks book-length monographs on museum studies and art educational topics, and book-length young adult fiction.
Hurm Editions publishes ‘Transgressive literary and pulp/genre fiction’. It seeks submissions of ‘transgressive literature’ and ‘will publish original titles in literary fiction and graphic novels, poetry, occult and witchcraft, nonfiction, erotica, memoir, and the unclassifiable.’ Essays, scholarship and writing that expands and works to preserve underrepresented histories and voices will also be published.
Submit online. Include a cover letter detailing which press, the title, and include a short bio. For book-length fiction and poetry include a completed manuscript. Nonfiction and scholarly submissions should include a proposal abstract, chapter list, and sample introduction plus first chapter and a list of other current relevant titles in the specific field of interest.
Bridge Journal is a place for artistic experimentation. Submit poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction, visual art, cultural criticism, design, plus hybrid work. Bridge Magazine, updated on Mondays with reviews of books, art exhibitions, dance, live performance which the team seek from around the world, seeks ‘analysis of art criticism and cultural reporting, and also welcomes flash fiction or serial content, 800 to 1,500 words to publish on the front page of the website.
The Readings Archive is an ongoing poetry and fiction archive series of audio recordings. The editors accept original audio recordings of readings of original poetry and fiction by the author/poet.
Hurm Editions wants submissions for the anthology, SMUT. Submit poetry and fiction in literary, poetic and experimental erotica styles. Deadline 1 October.
