call of duty: black ops II
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 confirmed by headgear spotted on a sports star
It was always inevitable that we’d get another Call Of Duty game at some point this year, we just didn’t expect it so soon – or for the whole thing to be confirmed by NBA star James ‘The Beard’ Harden wearing a baseball cap with a logo on it. Of course fans instantly spotted it and began commenting on the fact that they’ve gone for the roman numeral variation IIII instead of the more widely used IV.
Activision has since followed up with an official announcement saying that it’s in development and will be out on 12 October this year. While they didn’t show anything of the game except for another shot of the next logo (this time not on a hat) they did also announce that they’ll be holding a community reveal event on 17 May to show the game off properly.
The last Black Ops game went really far forward for a full sci-fi theme and space setting that didn’t go down as well with gamers as originally thought, so this time it’s expected that Treyarch will dial that back in favour of a more grounded approach that’s in line with the recently successful COD:
WWII and its ‘boots on the ground’. Activision currently has a lot to prove after the disappointment of Destiny 2 so we expect it’ll be particularly careful with its upcoming shooters. It’s also worth noting that the date for BLOPS 4 is two weeks earlier than COD’s normal late-October release. It seems that even the big boys want to avoid clashing with Red
Dead Redemption II on 26 October.
Expect more from COD: BLOPS 4 in issue 165.
RIGHT Black Ops
3 alienated some players with its space setting; here’s hoping it’ll be dialled back for 4.
