The games industry is littered with the rusting hulks of once-great franchises. here are some that we’d like to see resurrected on xbox

Modern games franchises often earn a bad rep – deservedly so, if they become an annual nonevent that might as well have been churned out by a sausage-factory. But there are plenty of cleverly curated ones which bring us vast amounts of joy – think of the likes of GTA, Halo, Assassin’s Creed, Tomb Raider, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Far Cry and Forza. Back in the day, when new genres were still emerging on a regular basis, only the very best games developed into franchises. Many of those then fell by the wayside, often due to prevailing economic conditions or inexplicable decisions by publishers.

Now that the games industry is patently struggling to develop new ideas, we say it’s time to bring back these venerable franchises for Xbox One. We miss all these games terribly, and if they were resurrected (then nurtured properly), they’d make their modern equivalents seem pale and uninteresting. So how about it, modern publishers? Stop grinding out annual yawn-fests, and bring back these terrific defunct franchises!
