This stylish and compact alloy box has a neat row of ports along one end and two Wi-Fi antennae. It not only acts as a Wi-Fi router, it can also be used to repeat your yacht’s NMEA data via Wi-Fi.

The router accepts Internet connection­s from a dongle, Wi-Fi hotspot, satphone or a fully-blown Inmarsat Fleet

Contact Mailasail Broadband system. It has a LAN port for hard-wiring a PC and two USB ports for the Wi-Fi Bat booster antenna, a 3G cellular dongle or the NMEA data input.

Two other LAN ports enable automatic connection to satcomms devices, but it doesn’t have is a SIM card slot.

It also has its own firewall and a built-in GPS tracker. Installati­on is just a question of powering up and logging on – no software is required as it is configured via a browser page.

In conjunctio­n with The Red Box, MailASail also offers a number of services that compress the data and strip out unnecessar­y email/ web data, speeding up transmissi­on rates and saving both time and money.
