Wi-Fi On Board

Wi-Fi On Board uses solid, reliable and well-proven components. The Huawei B315 Wi-Fi router is small and neat, but would not like getting wet. It has four LAN ports for direct computer/printer/ fax connections, although the fourth doubles as a WAN port if needed. It also has a USB port for a flash drive (possible cellular dongle), a socket for a VOIP telephone and two small SMA internal/external antenna sockets (although it will work fine with only one). The device comes as a package with either a +6dB or +8dB high-gain antenna with 5m of cable.

A full-size 3G/4G SIM card pushes into a slot under a slideoff cover at the back and there are power and WPS buttons on the top. Like most domestic routers it is configured using a browser page.

We liked this device as it was quick and easy to get going and simple to configure. It would have been nice to have had a more sensitive signal strength indicator, rather than the simple three-bar LED on the front.
