Let’s give the Coastguard a break!

I wholeheartedly support Andy du Port’s plea for the ‘Ch16 radio checkers’ to stop and use an alternative (Sep 16). Solent Coastguard must have the patience of saints. I can only recall requesting one radio check in the last 10 years – and then after replacing a set.

As Andy’s article states there are multiple other means to reassure that all is well. The issue should be addressed in the SRC course and more widely promulgated round yacht clubs. Let’s give the Coastguard a break. Tony Morris
