WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS
Caspar Craven, Adlard Coles
Caspar and Nichola Craven’s global circumnavigation with their three young children was planned as a means of relationship repair and to create their family team. This is a life-coaching book, relentlessly positive and committed to the principle that every problem can be worked through rationally, whether it’s a fuel blockage, a financial crisis or a two-year-old’s tantrum. Much of the voyage took place in the company of the World ARC which offered them and their children reciprocal friendships. On board Aretha, their Oyster 53, the Cravens’ daily family discussions (with stickers) about shared values and desired behaviours paid off, even when they lost power amidst big Pacific seas. All undeniably admirable though not, for me, ‘magic’.
