Alice Driscoll is Chair of British Marine and formerly owned a marine PR business

At the crux of making things work better and dealing with the new reality is bringing organisations and sailors together. We need to ask questions. What does the customer of the future look like? How is the appetite for watersports changing? Following the first major seminar on the future of the industry, British Marine has equipped members with a toolbox that will equip them to enact change in their organisations. Companies that haven’t engaged can download the report and take it forward. The second report highlighted the ‘Instagram’ sailor – a group whose impact is so strong we cannot ignore it. There’s a lot of space for creativity. Young people are unlikely to buy a car, so why would they think about buying a boat? We need to break down those barriers.
