Yachting Monthly - - GEAR OF THE YEAR -

A swinging mooring is an economical way to keep your boat. Mooring buoys haven’t changed much over the years, but the innovative Mara Buoy aims to make picking up a mooring much easier. Unlike conventional buoys, Mara Buoys (static and dynamic) include a central galvanised column that extends vertically above the waterline up to deck level. Inside this, the bottom of the mooring line is shackled directly to the riser chain. It’s easy for the helmsman to see during the whole manoeuvre and is easy to pick up even without a boat hook.
