Dave Price is a SUP enthusiast and instructor so includes information on technique, equipment, and extensions of the sport such as SUP games, yoga, holidays and whitewater Sup-ing. Perhaps because the basic idea of standup-paddleboarding is so simple – Squirrel Nutkin got there even before CS Lewis’s Dufflepuds – it challenges human ingenuity to devise complications. Fortunately, Price is also a conservation volunteer. His chapters on wildlife are sensitively written and he’s aware of the access issues on non-tidal waters and the needs of some other river users, though not, it seems, yachtsmen. (Please don’t play paddleboard tag in the fairway!) A companionable guide to a sport that’s becoming a lifestyle.
