AWNING CHECKLIST

1. Covers sufficient area for the whole crew to have shade

2. Includes means of providing shade from the side as well as above

3. Can be effectively tensioned and braced to withstand wind

4. Does not obscure access in and out of the cockpit to the side decks

5. Can be rolled up and tucked away easily. Anything awkward won’t get used

6. Is the fabric suitable, including waterproof, lightweight, breathable and durable?

7. Mid-colours better than glaring white, or heat-absorbing navy blue

8. Do you also need a bimini for protection underway?
