Afly past by the Italian Air Force aerobatics display team, Pattuglia Acrobatica, Frecce Tricolori, tops the sight of over 2,200 yachts taking part in the 50th anniversary Barcolana Regatta on 14 October.

This is the biggest sailing regatta in the world. Yachts sail a 13-mile triangular course in the

Gulf of Trieste between Barcola and Miramare, finishing in front of the Piazza Unità d’italia. This is the culmination of three days of yacht racing organised by Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano (SVBG) and a programme of events on land. The regatta was first sailed in 1969 when 51 yachts took part and it has grown steadily ever year since then.
