Dazcat has unveiled this turbo-charged 60ft flagship for the ultimate in rapid cruising and thrilling offshore multihull racing. The Cornish company is known for its stiff racer-cruiser catamarans and innovative custom projects, and has just rebuilt the abandoned Gunboat 55 Rainmaker into a luxury motorcruiser. It worked up this potent new design in collaboration with Ben Rogerson for a current client.
The carbon, aramid and infused epoxy build is a larger, more powerful and aggressive version of the impressive 1495 we tested in 2016 (www. yachtingworld.com/reviews/boat-tests/dazcat1495-boat-test-a-cutting-edge-catamaran). The new shape is more angular than that 50-footer and includes full-length chines in the hulls, a mast positioned well aft and a lengthy longeron.
It also sports twin carbon daggerboards and T-foil rudders. Ski masks could be standard issue if you consider the apparent winds on this speedster!
Dazcat has adopted its favoured layout, which is geared around centralising weight, including the positioning of the anchor and chain locker on the main beam and the use of central engine bays.
The twin semi-raised central helming positions provide full visibility, with all control lines led here for ease of handling. The cockpit is covered by a carbon bimini, topped with solar panels and a rainwater collection system.
The layout of the 1895 can include Dazcat’s trademark galley set halfway up in one hull, but is largely flexible with scope for crew and Pullman cabins, a workshop or dive store.
