CYLINDER DRYBAGS
Gill Cylinder 50lt
This is the largest volume bag on test, capable of swallowing a stack of provisions or wet weather gear for a family, so removable shoulder straps to spread the load over both shoulders proved beneficial. Made from puncture-resistant PVC, it has welded seams, a flat base and a semi-transparent strip so you can see some of the contents. This fared the best of the rolltop bags in the submersion test. Empty weight: 800g
Waterproofing: (100ml ingress) 8/10 Rating: 7/10

Overboard 40lt
A classic rolltop-style bag with a couple of useful extra features in the removable shoulder strap and a robust grab handle. It’s PVC with welded seams and uses three or four rolls to seal the top, which has a hard flap for a better seal – though this didn’t prevent water from penetrating on submersion. The 60lt version with shoulder, waist and chest straps would suit those who want more capacity. Empty weight: 730g
Waterproofing: (500ml ingress) 5/10 Rating: 6/10

Aquapac 25lt
The smallest and cheapest on test, this is a no-frills rolltop bag suitable for taking on a quick dinghy run or for carrying a few essentials paddleboarding. It’s made from vinyl and has a removable shoulder strap. Other than that, the best feature is the high visibility colour. During our submersion test, the Aquapac had the same amount of water saturation as the Overboard 40lt rolltop. Empty weight: 499g
Waterproof rating: (500ml ingress) 5/10 Rating: 6/10
