Event will pro­mote York as busi­ness base

BUSI­NESS lead­ers will at­tend an event later this month which cel­e­brates the strength of North York­shire’s cor­po­rate world.

York Busi­ness Week will be­gin with an event on Novem­ber 13 at York Race­course which will fea­ture lead­ing names from the busi­ness world. The event will aim to pro­mote York as a lead­ing busi­ness des­ti­na­tion.

A spokesman said: “All the speak­ers will have a con­nec­tion to York – they will live here, work here or have set up a busi­ness here – and all will have a world-class story to tell.”

Hosted by Jon Ham­mond, the for­mer BBC jour­nal­ist and Gov­er­nor at York St John Univer­sity, the speak­ers will in­clude Wil­liam Derby, the chief ex­ec­u­tive of York Race­course, and Richard Harpin, founder and CEO of Home­serve.

Other speak­ers in­clude Tim Leigh, the mar­ket­ing di­rec­tor of Stage One, and An­drew Swift, the CEO of Fera Sci­ence.

York Busi­ness Week is be­ing de­liv­ered by Make It York, the city’s of­fi­cial des­ti­na­tion man­age­ment or­gan­i­sa­tion.
