DEAL IN LINE WITH DRAX’S STRATEGY
Andy Koss, chief executive of Drax Power, said that the acquisition was “very much in line” with its strategy of delivering “lower carbon, lower cost energy”.
He added: “It’s a critical time for the UK power sector as it transitions into a low carbon and more flexible system.”
The acquisition wouldn’t result in job losses, Drax said, with around 260 transferring from Scottish Power to Drax. Mr Koss said that support functions at these assets aren’t currently covered and therefore there maybe more jobs added in the future. Drax currently has 900 staff at its site in Selby.
