A Pock­ling­ton farm shop that started life as a ‘farm­ers’ shop’ in De­cem­ber 1997 is be­lat­edly cel­e­brat­ing its 21st birth­day with a food and drink tast­ing event.

Founders of The Mile – Pock­ling­ton (for­merly The Mile-Farm Shop and Feed Shed), Colin and Jo Barnes, are invit­ing peo­ple to join them for a Taste of York­shire event on Satur­day, Jan­uary 26, when se­lected pro­duc­ers will be on hand to talk about lo­cally sourced food and drink with a chance to sam­ple their prod­ucts and.

Be­tween 2pm and 5pm, a host of pro­duc­ers, in­clud­ing Thix­en­dale’s York­shire Rape­seed Oil, The Chilli Jam Man and The York­shire Dales Cheese Com­pany will be of­fer­ing vis­i­tors a taste of their food and drink.

Jo Barnes said: “Given that the third Mon­day of Jan­uary is his­tor­i­cally known as ‘Blue Mon­day’, we de­cided that we’d try to beat the blues and give cus­tomers some­thing free and tasty to look for­ward to.”
