Work of ground break­ing artist

HARROGATE’S 108 Fine Art gallery is stag­ing a ma­jor ret­ro­spec­tive of the paint­ings and works on pa­per of artist Alan Davie who died last year at the age of 93.

The show fea­tures forty pic­tures cov­er­ing the pe­riod 1948-2012 and will in­clude rare and pre­vi­ously un­seen works.

Davie was a hugely in­flu­en­tial fig­ure in the de­vel­op­ment of Ab­stract Ex­pres­sion­ism in Bri­tain and was ad­mired by fel­low artists Jack­son Pol­lock, Mark Rothko and David Hock­ney.

The show runs from Au­gust 1 to Septem­ber 19.
