Mr Brown’s Directions: As part of the continuing tercentenary celebrations of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, often referred to as ‘the Shakespeare of gardening’, Burton Constable Hall will be hosting the premiere of a new play next month. Mr Brown’s Directions, written and to be directed by Rachel Feldberg, director of Ilkley Literature Festival, offers a unique insight into how Brown planned the redevelopment of the extensive parkland at Burton Constable and how his vision was executed. It is a complex story of love, loss and disagreements inspired by original archive material held at the East Yorkshire estate. The play will be performed on March 10 and 11 at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets
