THE MANY FACES OF FRANKENSTEIN

Yorkshire Post - Culture & The Guide - - STAGE -

When Frankenstein was first published – anonymously – many thought that Percy Shelley was the author. It was also critically mauled. Just five years after it was published, the first adaptation came, a stage play based on the story. Since then there have been more than 100 adaptations of the story for screen, most representations of the creature are famously based on the Boris Karloff portrayal, although Robert De Niro is one of many to have played the inherent humanity of Frankenstein’s creation.

Dr Frankenstein, Sheffield Crucible, March 15 to 25. 0114 2496000.
