Polo finds itself on top of the world
VOLKSWAGEN’S latest Polo has followed its European Car of the Year Award, last December, with the title World Car of the Year (won last year by the Golf ).
The Polo beat the shortlisted Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Toyota Prius, plus other contenders such as the Kia Soul, BMW X1 and Porsche Panamera.
Volkswagen’s Bluemotion economy system was also named Green Car of the Year ahead of the Prius and Honda Insight.
Audi’s R8 (a winner in 2008 with a V8 engine) and now with a V10, took the “performance” category from the Ferrari California and Porsche GT3.
Chevrolet’s Camaro was judged Design of the Year, pipping the Soul, Prius and C3 Picasso.
