Hot ver­sion: The 180bhp 2.0 petrol from £21,174 cov­ers 0-62mph in 7.8 sec­onds.

Ver­dict: Stylish de­sign state­ment from Re­nault leads the way. Com­pre­hen­sive safety kit, in­clud­ing an in­truder alarm, shows why Re­nault gets top marks in the EuroNcap tests.
