Le Mans win is Aston’s driving force

Yorkshire Post - Motoring - - NEWS -

ASTON Martin is determined to win the Le Mans 24 Hour Race (again) and is building a contender for the fastest LMP1 category in the 2011 race.

The marque won the GT class in 2007 and 2008 and the Le Mans series of shorter races in 2009.

Its LMP1 car will be petrolpowered and stands a chance as the race organisers inhibit the advantage of diesel by imposing various power restrictions.

It seems against the spirit of competition.

Aston’s only Le Mans victory was in 1959 with the DBR1 (Salvadori and Shelby). The race has been won by diesel-powered Audis since 2006.
