Yorkshire Post - Motoring - - NEWS -

Peugeot’s electric EX1 has broken a record for electric vehicles under 1000kg set by Georg Von Opel in an Opel GT Electric in 1971.

At Montlhéry circuit, the allelectric EX1 smashed the ¼- mile, 500m and 1,000m speed records previously set by Georg Von Opel in an Opel GT Electric in 1971.

The car then went on to set three new speed records over 8 mile, ½ mile and mile.

Given a 40-year interval for development, the new records are not dramatically that much better.

Sample new record: the 1000m maximum speed 79.42mph (old record 72mph).
