MORE news from the Nür­bur­gring where this road-legal Porsche has lapped the Nord­schleife sec­tion in 7 min­utes and 27 sec­onds.

The model is the 911 GT3 RS 4.0, a lim­ited edi­tion of 600 based on the GT3 RSR track racer.

The flat-six, 4.0-litre sports en­gine, the big­gest 911 en­gine ever, is also the most pow­er­ful nat­u­rally as­pi­rated en­gine with 125 ps/litre. It achieves its max­i­mum power of 500ps (493bhp) at a scorch­ing 8,250 rpm and max­i­mum torque of 339 lb ft at 5,750 rpm.

With a six-speed man­ual sports trans­mis­sion, it sprints to 62mph from a stand­ing start in 3.9 sec­onds and, with its gear­ing de­signed for the rac­ing cir­cuit, takes it to 124mph in less than 12 sec­onds.

De­tails in­clude Car­rera White paint and ex­tra down­force of 190kg at top speed on the front axle, helped by lat­eral air de­flec­tors.

The Club­sport pack­age – com­pris­ing half-roll cage, seat-belt har­nesses, fire ex­tin­guisher, bat­tery cut-off switch – is stan­dard.
